¡Hola Amigos!

My month home has come to an end, and I find myself sitting at a small coffee shop in the town of Parramos in Guatemala (what a life 🤍). Thinking back on my time at home, my heart is filled with gratefulness. I am truly blessed by all of you – a community that has been and is praying for me; and that believes in the calling of God in my life. What a blessing. Thank you. I had time to rest; spend time with friends and family; and to reflect on my time in Africa. There’s such a lightness that has taken over my life. I didn’t understand it at first, but I was reminded of Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. This bible verse has been the theme of my life since giving my resignation letter last summer (woah, that’s crazy). Surrendering and trusting God with everything in me, has been the hardest and most rewarding thing ever! Giving all that worry to Him has definitely made me feel lighter. Thank you Jesus for making our burden light!

Now, here we are! We’ve been here in Guatemala for 4 days of training. It has truly been a refreshing few days. The staff here in Adventures Guatemala are amazing and the sessions have been very encouraging and challenging! We split the squad in two teams and my team is called the Fruit Baskets. We are an all girls team (Liz, Ashley, Emma, Mak, Kennedy, Beca and Carson)! We got to do a scavenger hunt in Antigua as our first team bonding activity, and sadly we lost, but we got to explore the city and the girls got to practice their Spanish (they are so good!) Anyways, we start ministry as a team on Monday! “Hope” is the organization that my team will be serving with, and we also get to live with our ministry host next week. I’m so excited to be emerged in the Guatemalan culture and to start building relationships with all of them! We heard a little bit about what they do, and I am sooo ready to parter with them, and I can’t wait to share it with all of you!

This was a super quick update! So, thank you for reading!

Here are some prayer requests:

  1. For V Squad and the Fruit Baskets! (the team)
  2. For Hope and our host
  3. For our friends at Adventures Guatemala

se les quiere mucho!

Alisha 🙂
